Practice Better
Book Networking

Most spiritual seekers highly value books. Books
can serve as portals to other worlds, let you look into the heart
and soul of a poet-mystic, gaze into the new frontiers of quantum
physics and string theory, and are even a way to travel through
time. Sutras, Upanishads, scrolls and parchments will transport
you to distant lands to sit at the feet of great souls. I find it
best to have many avenues to good books.
Bookstores: A local bookstore may have some valuable titles
and will always be one of the main pathways to browse for new books,
yet we need not solely rely upon the tastes of the guy ordering
and stocking shelves. His choices or what some publisher happens
to be pushing during any given month, does not necessarily provide
a complete or satisfying access to the world of books. Some of the
best books I've ever read are ones NOT found conveniently at arm's
length.
Searching Online: Searching for books online has become an
amazing new way to find what you're looking for. Most book companies
have their own websites. Once you discover what you want, these
can be special ordered via a local bookstore or purchased directly
online.
Mail Order Book Catalogs: Mail order book catalogs specializing
in rare spiritual books provide yet another opportunity to access
writings you otherwise might not encounter. Just be willing to write
for that free book catalog.
Books Published by Spiritual Paths: Religious organizations
or spiritual paths, East and West, often have their own self-published
titles, and may not necessarily have an ISBN or show up in any computer
search. Book lists can be requested directly from various groups.
Books in Print: A series of volumes published each year called
Books in Print, an "A" through "Z" listing of
titles, authors, and publishers, is a wonderful tool. Many libraries
have those.
Books in English from India or Other Countries: Off-the-radar-screen
for most is the world of international books in print. Online one
can find English language titles published in other countries. India
has tons of amazing spiritual books in English-some of the best.
These days, there are even companies that specialize in selling
Indian books to people in North America.
Used Books: Used bookstores provide another avenue to that
special book you've been searching for. There are used bookstores
online as well.
Reprints: There are companies that even re-publish out of
print books. Very nice of them to do that.
Welcome to the Worldwide Web: Did you know that you can read
many great spiritual classics for free on the web? I have a Web
site that provides links to many such sites, and many others do
as well. From "Apocrypha" to "Zoroaster": Buddhist
texts, Hindu, Christian classics, Gnostic Gospels, Sufi Poets, Kabbalah/Zohar,
the Epic of Gilgamesh, Egyptian and Tibetan Books of the Dead-the
world's holy books are available at your fingertips at various online
libraries and Internet archives. Even if your eyes are not comfortable
reading via a screen for long periods of time, you can print out
the pages.
Spiritual Quotes Via Yahoo Groups: Online there are also
Yahoo groups, newsgroups, Egroups at Belief Net or elsewhere in
cyber-space that offer daily spiritual quotes, the Daily OM, a Rumi
poem each day, or other inspiration often can come to you in the
form of email.
Support Your Local Library: Your library, university, or
theological seminary library will give you yet more options.
Inter-Library Loan: Libraries also participate in the inter-library
loan program. Usually via a computer at the library, you can surf
though their latest disc and see what other libraries across the
state or country may have to offer. You will discover and borrow
some divine books through the avenue of inter-library loan.

From
the Editor's Desk
A hefty dose of
gratitude and green can do wonders for an ailing attitude. Be grateful
for the things you have. It is very empowering to take a few minutes
to envision what you do want, instead of what you don't have. Clarity
is important. Express your deep gratitude for what is here and now
and for that which is to come. You will soon begin seeing things
in a different light.
On a practical level if you need to
know the skills needed to gain and keep "green" money
tune in to Ralph White's show Consulting 2 Win every Thursday
at 1pm Pacific Time. He gives you lots of information and tools
to help you get and keep money in your business. Even if you don't
have a business these skills can help steer your life towards more
abundance and hence more gratitude.
As you start feeling grateful, why
not extend that gratitude beyond yourself and help the planet. It's
really simple to come up with doable green things that can help
us all. Just listen to HealthyLife.Net Radio's Green Series
Hosts on Mondays at 8 a.m. Pacific Time and they will give you a
plethora of simple and ideas to do. Grand Dame of herbalists Susun
Weed can help you explore plants and herbs, and Dr. Pat, Dave Egbert
and Mike Austin will give you lots of green info and tips that you
can use in your own life to help you feel better and contribute
to the health of the planet.
And as you are thinking green, remember
Vegan is mostly green! I will be giving you scrumptious vegan recipes
and talking with music industry Vegans and Vegetarians on my show
Backstage Gourmet every Monday at 1pm PT. Victoria
Moran, life coach, best-selling author and HealthyLife.Net show
host of A Charmed Life airing the 4th Wednesday of every
month at 9am Pacific Time offers this tip for bringing more green
goodness into your life
" Eat greens. Eat greens like
crazy, the darker the better. Romaine, leaf lettuce, broccoli, chard,
kale, mustard greens, turnip greens, arugula, parsley, cillantro,
spinach, Mesclun greens. If it's green, it'll help you. Eat tons
of greens in salads, green smoothies, green juices, marinated greens,
steamed greens, sautéed greens, green soups. Remember the
guy in Forrest Gump who knew a million things to do with shrimp?
Be like that with greens."
So be grateful and think green. Happy holidays!
Namaste.

HOST OF THE MONTH:
Dr.
Margaret McCraw
of "Tune Into Love"
1st Wed. Every Month, 9 a.m. PT
|

| Each
month we focus on one of our radio hosts and this month we are talking
to best-selling
author Dr. Margaret McCraw who has over 25 years as a therapist. |

HL- What is love
and why is it important? Love is Source Energy
(purest energy in the Universe) flowing through us and onto others.
Love is unconditional. Many individuals confuse attachment with
love. Attachment and love are opposites. Love is important because
it inspires us to live from the highest degree of integrity, which
in turn, aligns us with living our life purpose.
HL-How can you use love to manifest success? When we allow love
(God) to flow through us then we are aligned with purposeful, passionate
and joyous living. This is success.
HL- What led you into this work? I have talked with God since
I was a small child. More importantly, I learned to listen to God.
About twenty five years ago I started asking questions about my
life purpose. I paid attention to the things that brought me fulfillment.
I took one step at a time and before you know it I was on the yellow
brick road
.looking for the path that felt like home.
HL- How can people benefit from listening to your radio show?
Listeners learn how to attract their desires and how to create fulfillment
on a day-to-day basis. During the show I weave in the steps in my
book, Tune Into Love, to help individuals understand the basic laws
of the Universe. This enables them to stop worrying and to release
struggle so they can begin living.
HL- What types of subjects do you cover on your radio show? We
talk about how to use the law of attraction to co-create with a
higher power. Listeners learn how to live a more fulfilling life.
We address relationships, health, career as well as how to flow
resources and opportunities.
HL-How does one handle a problem? Ask yourself this question:
What outcome or new desire do I desire? Then focus your attention
on the desire as opposed to focusing on the problem. This process
opens your mind to seeing viable options and solutions. Whereas
focusing on the problem literally keeps you stuck in the mud.
HL-What are the plans for your future? I am writing a new book
which focuses on all kinds of relationships (intimate, work related,
family, friends). Many of my clients, which include individuals,
couples, as well as organizations, are seeking new ideas on how
to create harmony with each other and how to build stronger platforms
in which to capitalize on our differences. This book shows the reader
how to do this. In addition, I have created an Accredited Fast Track
Life Coach Training Program, which is based on the Law of Attraction.
This program has been widely received, and in November, 2009 it
will be online so that individuals around the world can take classes
as well as get certified as a Life Coach.
I am an artist. For fun, I express myself on canvas. You can see
my art at www.ralphwhite.com.

Garlicky
Green Bean Potato Salad
The Veggie
Queen, Jill Nussinow, MS, RD
-For this recipe, you'll need a pressure cooker-
3 minutes high pressure; then quick release
1 ½ pounds potatoes, like Yellow Finn or Yukon Gold
½ pound green, yellow, or purple beans
8-10 cloves garlic, peeled
¾ cup vegetable broth
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons vegetable broth
1 clove garlic, crushed (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Cut potatoes in half lengthwise. Then again in half so
you have quarters. Then slice into ½-inch thick pieces.
Snap stems off beans, then cut into 2-inch segments.
Add vegetable broth to cooker. Lay potato pieces on the
bottom. Insert garlic cloves between the potato slices.
Place the green beans on top. Lock the lid in place. Turn
heat to high. Once the cooker comes to high pressure, reduce
heat to low.
Maintain high pressure for 3 minutes. Release pressure with
a quick release method. Remove potatoes and green beans
to a large bowl to cool slightly.
Put cooked garlic into a blender with the remaining dressing
ingredients. Process until dressing is creamy. Pour over
potato-green bean mixture. Taste, adding salt and pepper,
if necessary. Serve warm or chill. If chilled, stir before
serving.
