Who is Margaret McCraw...

Margaret McCraw, MBA, LCSW-C, BCC, founder of Behavioral Health & Leadership Dynamics, LLC (BHLD) has more than 25 years of organizational consulting, coaching and training experience. She provides certification training to professionals in Life Coaching, Mentoring, Health & Wellness and Corporate Life Coaching.

With advanced degrees in business administration, social work, and transpersonal/whole person psychology she has concentrated in organizational dynamics and Margaret is a licensed psychotherapist and a Board Certified Coach.

Margaret has authored The Relationship Code: Engage and Empower People with Purpose and Passion, published by Career Press, which addresses the highly endorsed four-step Harmonic Matching Process. The Power of Persistence

If we are to succeed at taking back authority over our lives, we must persist. After all, we have many years of wrong thinking and negative emotions to see through. As we become more familiar with the wrong powers that have been ruling our lives all along, we discover many disturbing things within. With these new discoveries, it may even feel sometimes as though we're getting worse, not better. In fact, everything we see is good for us. We're just beginning to face honestly how bad it has been all along, and that is the first step to real inner newness.

Many great spiritual teachers warn us not to fall for the trick of discouragement. We are told to face the rigors of the inner journey in good spirits. We may have to knock on the door of Truth ten thousand times before it will answer. But it will answer, and then all the effort will be rewarded a thousand fold.

Imagine a man who hears that there is gold in the mountains, and goes in pursuit. Then, finding only three small flakes in what seems to him to be a very long time, declares that there is no gold to speak of and stops the search. In contrast to that foolish man, we should be delighted to have acquired those three flakes, and take that as all the encouragement we need to redouble our efforts. The reason we get discouraged is because we don't know the value of spiritual gold. The happy fact is that even one flake, when combined with another, yields something that is greater than the sum of the parts. We can take two spiritual facts, put them together, and come up with a new understanding that is much more powerful than either fact alone -- one that will speed us along on our journey home.

None of us knows how much spiritual gold we've gathered as a result of our sincere efforts. Nor do we know when those pieces will come together to form a new power. We must patiently continue with our work, secure in the knowledge that the coming of the self-victory we now seek is as much under law as is the certainty of our continued captivity if we remain the same.

There is tremendous power in having a single direction and persisting without wavering. Our enduring, fervent wish to understand higher principles invites the revelations that will eventually lead us to our higher, safe position. Our persistent desire for the Truth enables us to ultimately harness the energy of the universe. In that energy lies the authority to take back our lives.

WHY STATIN DRUGS DON'T WORK

1. They Don't Work One report published in the Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology concluded that statin advocates used a statistical tool called relative risk reduction (RRR) to amplify statins' trivial beneficial effects. If you look at absolute risk, statin drugs benefit just 1 percent of the population. This means that out of 100 people treated with the drugs, one person will have one less heart attack. This doesn't sound so impressive, so statin supporters use a different statistic called relative risk. "An important feature of relative risk is that it tells you nothing about the actual risk." Research published in Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology revealed that, in contrast to the current belief that cholesterol reduction with statins decreases atherosclerosis, the drugs may instead actually stimulate atherosclerosis and heart failure.
2. Statins Reduce CoQ10 So while one of statins' claims to fame is warding off heart disease, you're actually increasing your risk when you deplete your body of CoQ10. The depletion of CoQ10 caused by the drug is why statins can increase your risk of acute heart failure. So if you're taking a statin drug, you MUST take Coenzyme Q10 as a supplement. If you're over 40, I would strongly recommend taking ubiquinol instead of CoQ10, as it's far more effectively absorbed by your body.
3. Statins Reduce Vitamin K2 Vitamin K2's biological role is to help move calcium into the proper areas in your body, such as your bones and teeth. It also plays a role in removing calcium from areas where it shouldn't be, such as in your arteries and soft tissues. Statin drugs inhibit the function of vitamin K2 in your body, which means taking them may put you at risk of vitamin K2 deficiency, a condition known to contribute to a number of chronic diseases, including: osteoporosis, heart disease, heart attack and stroke.
4. Statins Reduce Ketone Production Statins lower cholesterol by inhibiting the enzyme in your liver that produces cholesterol. Unfortunately this is the same enzyme that produces not only CoQ10 but also ketones, which are crucial nutrients to feed your mitochondria to help control aging.
5. Increased Risk of Serious Diseases Because statins deplete your body of CoQ10, inhibit synthesis of vitamin K2, and reduce the production of ketone bodies, they increase your risk of other serious diseases. This includes: Cancer, Cataracts, Alzheimer's, Huntington's, and Parkinson's disease, Musculoskeletal Disorders like Myalgia, muscle weakness, muscle cramps, autoimmune muscle disease and tendinous diseases. But more important Statin Drugs can cause Diabetes! Statins have been shown to increase your risk of diabetes via a number of different mechanisms. The most important one is that they increase insulin resistance and statins increase your diabetes risk by raising your blood sugar. Statins work by preventing your liver from making cholesterol. As a result, your liver returns the sugar to your bloodstream, which raises your blood sugar levels. These drugs also rob your body of certain valuable nutrients, which can also impact your blood sugar levels. Two nutrients in particular, vitamin D and CoQ10, are both needed to maintain ideal blood glucose levels. A 2011 meta-analysis confirmed the higher the dosage of statin drugs being taken, the greater the diabetes risk.

Recipe of the Month

Shrimp Ceviche

Cooking Time: 6 hours

3 lb. cooked shrimp
1 cup fresh lime juice
1/2 cup virgin olive oil
6 tablespoons red onion (minced)
2 tablespoons green pepper (minced)
1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon coriander
1/4 teaspoon white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
Sea salt and pepper to taste

In a bowl combine shrimp and lime juice.
Cover and let marinate at room temperature for 4 hours, turning occasionally.
Drain lime juice.
Fold in lightly the olive oil, red onion, green pepper, parsley, cayenne pepper, oregano, vinegar, salt and pepper.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
