Leanne Huebner

Who is Leanne Huebner...

When Leanne Huebner organized her friends to start tutoring under-served New York City youth in the early 1990s, she had no idea what type of longterm impact they could possibly make. But she just knew she had to start somewhere. Now, more than 25 years later, Minds Matter has helped thousands of high-achieving, low-income students through college. Nearly 94 percent of its alumni complete their bachelor’s degree, or at rates better than high-income peers. In 2017, Leanne was named a Women of Worth Honoree by L’Oreal Paris and awarded $10,000 toward the nonprofit changing the lives of students across the country.

Huebner is busy raising five children with her husband and serving on Minds Matter National's Board. Today, Minds Matter has 14 chapters serving 826 students by more than 2,200 volunteers. The program enrolls students during their freshman year of high school and pairs them with at least two mentors. They attend Saturday study sessions during their sophomore, junior and senior years and two academic programs at universities after sophomore and junior years.

After spending years helping others achieve their full potential, Leanne is launching this show to bring her message of positively, planning, purpose and passion to many others. This Harvard-educated mom is an award-winning social entrepreneur, a former banker and consultant, and now full time do-gooder. "I Reach Higher" hopes to encourage its listeners to do good, do well, and do more! Leanne's nonprofit work has been recognized by the California State Assembly, National Points of Light (award established by President George W. Bush), and Soroptimist International. Leanne is a first generation college graduate from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Two Revelations of Love
by Guy Finley -
Radio Host of "Guy Finley Live! "
3rd Tuesday every month, 9am PT

All of our relationships, in particular with the one we love, exist for a dual purpose, along with their great promise. First, most of us understand that our partner in life is there to help us grow, and to awaken and stir in us, accordingly, an awareness of love's highest possibilities. But the other - and equally important half of this same purpose and promise - without which the first part can't succeed -
is as follows: our partner in life is also there to help us see everything in us that now stands in the way of our coming to realize this same higher love.

Here are two transformational revelations of love.

#1 - Learn the True Basis of Compassion

It probably often seems that your partner knows how to push the wrong button in you, and always at exactly the wrong time. It's as if they wait for you to say, "Yes," to something, so that then they can say, "No." You would really like to learn how to be more patient with them than you are, but you don't have a clue where to begin.

No doubt it's challenging to deal with anyone, let alone a loved one who contradicts us at every turn. But becoming impatient and blaming them for their unconscious actions is like yelling at a toaster to stop burning your bread! The real solution to this, and to all similar situations rests within you, not with your partner.

We can only bear some negative characteristic in someone else that we have learned to consciously bear in ourselves...which means none of us can be truly compassionate until we know what it means to suffer ourselves for the sake of something greater than ourselves: unconditional love.

#2 - See Love in Action

It may seem impossible at times to let go and let love lead us through the trials we face with our partner. We all want to believe in higher love - to be able to act with the kind of compassion that is not just our possibility, but our responsibility, as well. So how can we begin to see this power, so that we might build a greater trust in it?

First we must realize it's not enough to just "believe" in the power of love; billions profess this belief, and yet...billions still hurt one another in the name of love. We must learn to see - with "new eyes" - that love is within and around us at all times. For instance, here's an example of something that's always been right before us, as a fact of life, but that has remained just out of sight.

The love we have for anything holy, beautiful, or true is present in our heart before we can think of any reason for the love that we feel. The breathtaking light at sunset, that strain of delicate music, or watching a mother tenderly embrace her child: these moments don't create the love we feel for what we see before us; these moments reveal the presence, and the power of a love that already lives in us! Do take a moment to consider all that this insight implies: it isn't we who find things to love, but rather that Love finds - through us -a way to reach us, and to teach us that She lives in and through all things...including us.

Healing Colors

Colors seen by the eye and interpreted by the brain can affect and may even change our emotional and physical states. Studies using spectral colors (especially special colored lights) have been shown to aid the healing  process.

May - Hold On...the Flowers Are Coming

Times have already changed and our world is trying to catch up. Old systems that are not working are now being brought to Light and being taken care of. But don't get distracted by being too prickly over little stuff. We need laughter, not false righteousness or judgment. Jump out of your perspective and into someone else's shoes to view the world from their perspective. If you truly do that, how can you judge them. Don't waste time on the negative - and that means thoughts, emotions and actions. Come from a gentler place with people and witness their life don't jump into their life. You have your own life so make the most of it. Don't judge people from your perspective -- because your perspective is just yours, no one else's. So stop wasting your time because life is lived in each precious moment. Surround yourself with positive people and situations. Have empathy for those negatively challenged but don't get caught up in their world. You have your life and you can choose what you let into it and how it effects/affects you. You can accomplish more in the higher energy of the positive...and that's where comes in.

If you are feeling down, uninspired, unmotivated and just plain negative then tune in to Radio. There is something for everyone and I find if I am looking for answers I can randomly tune into a live show and the answer is there. Or I might go to listen to an on-demand show or download a podcast to listen any event I am sure you will find some positive information that can help you in each moment to be positive...and to show you that you are NOT alond. We even have great call in shows so you can direct connect to a host live on air.
