about Sally Kirkland
Who is Sally Kirkland...
Sally Kirkland, Best Actress Oscar Nominee, Golden Globe winner,
Independent Spirit Award winner, veteran of over 200 films and radio
host on HealthyLife.net Radio Network since April, 2003.
Feisty, hardworking, famously liberal, with the trademark blonde
hair, actress Sally Kirkland has certainly made an indelible mark
on Hollywood history. Born in New York City, her mother was the
fashion editor at Vogue and LIFE magazine. She was also actress
Shelly Winters Goddaughter.
Sally began her career on the off-Broadway circuit and trained
under 'Lee Strasberg'.
Sally Kirkland is a film, TV, and theater veteran since the 1960's
and is probably best known for the film "Anna," for which
she garnered a Best Actress Oscar nomination and won the Best Actress
Golden Globe, the Independent Spirit Award, and the LA Film Critic's
She was the first actress to appear nude in a legitimate stage
play, in the 1968 Off-Broadway premiere of "Sweet Eros"
Sally's first director in 1964 was Andy Warhol in "13 Most
Beautiful Women." Her 200 films include: "The Sting,"
"The Way We Were," "Coming Apart," "Cold
Feet," "Best of the Best," "Revenge," "JFK,"
"ED TV," "Bruce Almighty", and recently "Coffee
Date", "Archaeology of a Woman", "Buddy Solitaire",
"Gnaw" and "The Most Hated Woman in America"
co-starring with Melissa Leo and Peter Fonda on Netflix.
She was nominated for Best Actress in a TV movie by the Hollywood
Foreign Press for "The Haunted- A True Story." Her television
credits include: guest starring on "Criminal Minds," recurring
on "Head Case" and "the Simple Life." She guest
starred on "Resurrection Blvd," and in the TV movie, "Another
Woman's Husband." Sally had a recurring role on "Felicity"
and "Wasteland." She starred on the NBC movie, "Brave
New World." She starred in the TV movie, "Song of Songs"and
was a series regular on the TV show "Valley of the Dolls."
She also starred in the TV movie, "The Woman Who Loved Elvis."
She played Barbara Healy on "Roseanne." She starred in
the TV movie, "Heatwave" and recurred as Tracy on "Days
of Our Lives."
Sally is also an exhibited painter, poet and ordained minister.
She is currently still acting and teaches Acting in West Hollywood,
California as she writes her memoirs.

Put Yourself Where Freedom Finds You

An inner place of safety exists. If we stand in that
new position, no dark feelings can affect us. That position has
always been there, waiting for us to find it. It is the place where
the True Self resides. But we have mistakenly believed that only
two options were open to us: to either stand and suffer, or run
away and suffer, with our problems in constant pursuit. We always
listened to the inner flock of sheep that bleated fearfully, "submit
to the suffering," "find some way to deal with it,"
"hate whatever put you in pain."
As long as we continue to respond to the suffering
in this way, believing in its inevitability, it is in control. However,
a way out does exist. It is to stop thinking along those familiar
lines so that a right spirit can come in and guide us to a new internal
position. We begin by realizing, little by little, that our current
position is intolerable. When we get tired of putting up with those
intolerable conditions, we begin to look around for another answer.
Then we can be led to a new position where we are safe from the
stinging flies and stalking cougars of our own negative thoughts.
When we stand between the soaring cliffs of self-knowledge and the
desire to live above the pettiness of this world, the dark thoughts
lose their power to touch us.
A critical step in bringing about this transfer to a new position
is to develop a clear purpose for ourselves, for our position in
life is very much intertwined with what we believe to be our purpose
in life. When, like the foolish sheep, our only purpose is to eat,
mingle, mate, or rule the herd, we position ourselves accordingly,
and end up right in the middle of the battlefield. That foolish
purpose invites the attacks that cause our suffering, and allows
them to continue. When our new purpose is to live the higher life
we were meant to enjoy, our attention rises above the frightened
flock to the cliffs and the sky above. Our search in this new place
is rewarded. A new, safe position is revealed to us. Here we can
find a life free from suffering, as well as experience a new energy
and purpose in our lives.
Guy Finley is the best-selling author of more than
40 books and audio albums on self-realization, including "The

Authors as Radio Hosts?
Can authors make successful radio hosts or should they just
remain guests of radio shows? That is a big question that deserves
an honest answer.
We all should know that publicity for or about your book (or
service, or product for that matter) is needed for promotion
in order to get sales. In essence this means, if someone doesn't
know that your book is out there, even if its the best book
in the world, how will they know to read it? So publicity and
promotion is necessary.
Having published 3 books in the traditional book world and being
a radio host on terrestrial and internet radio for over 20 years,
I have to say that being a successful radio host, or being an
author, is not as easy as it looks.
These are two distinct and separate fields, requiring different
education, knowledge and skill sets. Real internet radio is
NOT a hodgepodge of personal blogs or programs thrown together
at random with someone calling it a radio station or network.
It is also not a podcast. A podcast is a completely different
medium. A podcast is not a radio show but a method of accessing
any digital audio file made available on the Internet for download.
There are many internet based radio stations that will tell
you every author can be a radio host with one idea in mind -
and that is to get your money. They do no training in radio
broadcasting, they don't give you the rules for good broadcasting.
There is no cross promotion of your radio show being done in
other shows. Plus you are usually competing with thousands of
hosts, channels and even other networks on the same site to
gain visibility of listeners.
These stations, rarely get many listeners for their hosts (despite
what 'listener numbers' they may give you - another discussion
for another time.) The host will have to promote their own show
to be recognized and gain visibility on their own radio station
- a full time job. So in this case, if you are an author and
trying to promote your book - starting a radio show means you
will have to promote that too. Another thing to keep in mind
is that these stations have little or no syndication and may
not be run on a traditional radio time clock, which proven over
time works to get and KEEP an audience.
Remember if people are tuning into radio, they want and expect
a standard radio experience - if they don't get it... most listeners
are gone way before the show is over.

Recipe of the Month
Cooking Time: 3-4 hours, 1-Soup Pot
1 3-4 lb. chicken, (cut into pieces)
8 cups cold water
1 medium onion (minced)
3-4 carrots (cut in 1" pieces)
2 stalks of celery (cut into 1" pieces)
3 medium potatoes (peeled and cut into 1" cubes)
1 tablespoon sea salt
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon sage
1/2 teaspoon rosemary
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/8 teaspoon coriander
2 bay leaves
1 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup basmati rice
In a large soup pot place chicken pieces, add water and bring
to a rapid boil.
Add onions, carrots, celery, potatoes and spices. Stir and bring
back to a boil. Reduce heat to slow simmer. Cook 3-4 hours.
With slotted spoon, take out bones and chicken pieces from the soup
and place in a bowl. Remove any bones from the chicken pieces. Cut
the chicken into bite-size pieces and return chicken meat to the
pot. Throw out bones. The last 1/2 hour of cooking add peas and

FOR CHICKEN BROTH: Omit rice and peas. Cook remaining ingredients
3-4 hours. Strain soup through a sieve and serve the broth or use
the broth for cooking rice or in other recipes.

January - New Year, New Beginnings
It's a new year which means
we can actually make a difference to the people, the planet and
yourself this year. A very important place to start is to get out
of the induced trance that is around us today -- which is to buy
'stuff'. We need to understand that we are being manipulated and
subconsciously directed via very sophisticated and psychologically
targeted digital advertising. In the old days it was said you need
to see or hear an ad seven times before you buy. But today 'Advertising',
which is using sophisticated data accumulated specifically about
you, makes sure you see over 4,000 ads a day. In fact that is probably
a small number.
Digital Marketing experts estimate
that most Americans are exposed to around 4,000 to 10,000 advertisements
each day while other studies show up to 20,000 ads a day. This is
not only overwhelming but also a breach of your privacy. Now I am
not saying I am not into free enterprise. I understand that people
need to get their message out so that people can know about their
product so they can buy it. After all I am in radio and a part of
our revenue comes from advertising. But there is a big difference
when large companies are using data about you - against you. Finding
out your fears and psychologically targeting those fears so you
feel compelled to buy a product not out of need but out of fear.
That's not positive - that's mind control and manipulation.
So here's a couple of tips to use this year...1)
Don't buy something unless you really need it or want to support
the company and its people behind the product. 2) Walk your talk
when you spend your money. If you are not into child labor - don't
buy from companies that use them. If you are not into GMO foods
- then buy organic and if its a little more money, than buy a little
less. If you want to help your community than buy local that extra
dollar you have to spend will put food on someone's table - not
end up in a corporate president's new yacht. 3) Be aware of where
you put your advertising dollars -- Facebook has been cited that
their predictive data was not using the right formula and a lot
less people were seeing the ad. They knew this...they have the world's
best analysts - in the past, this would be known as cheating. So
place your ad and marketing dollars with ethical firms and people
with integrity...and most importantly 4) Use your intuition. Do
you really need it? Should you do this? Your initial gut feel is
about 90% right all of the time. Using your mind to justify or convince
yourself of something may actually mean it is not necessary or right
for you. It's time to trust ourselves again - so just do it. That's
the positive way and eventually positive always overcomes negative
and you are always a lot happier in the process than being negative.
